I went on an all-girl roadtrip in January with 2 girlfriends to another friend's and thought it would be even more fun if we had roadtrippy accessories. I made a cover for my new atlas, a wallet purse with beads on the strap for the cash-pool and receipts and a paper journal for note-taking and mementos.
The little journal came in handy- we made a note of which places had the nicest restrooms (none of them!) and funny things that happened and who got demerits for screwing something up, stuff like that- it became quite hysterical.
The cute road trip fabric is a discontinued print by Alexander Henry, I had a heck of a time getting a yard of it and it probably cost me over $40 for that yard by the time I had it shipped from two places, one in England. I had to have it, though, it was just too cute.
I also made a matching bag for trash that hangs from the passenger seat headrest that was very handy for candy wrappers, water bottles, etc.
Let me just say this- roadtrips with best girlfriends are the BEST fun, ever! We all had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat!

OK, I wanna go back! Just let me know when you're gonna swing by here and pick me up! Course we gotta go get Lisa cause she made it just that much more fun. I think the getting there was most of the fun. And the Roadtrip goodies made it even more special. Lisa was in charge of writing in the journal so I'm pretty sure she didn't get any demerits....Hmmmmmm. But the bathrooms...now there's some memories I'll never forget! That much fun shouldn't be allowed....but I'm glad it is! :-)
I wanna go back too.....that was the best time EVER....lots of laughs, lots of memories...getting there was the best part for sure, even if the bathrooms weren't the greatest, lol....

Wow, I love it! The fabric is so wonderful!!! And what a great idea to cover the atlas -- ours always gets so beat up and torn after a few months of getting tossed about the car...
Thanks, girls! Lisa and Jen make the BEST traveling companions, that's for sure. I don't remember one negative moment on our trip, even the icky restrooms were funny and not a single complaint was registered. :)
The atlas cover is great, I've used it again on another trip and since it's washable, it's going to last forever, and so will the atlas. No more dog-ears on the pages. The built in ribbon bookmark is really handy and if you add a binder clip, too, you can flip around to the states you need real quickly. It took up a lot of fabric, though- I was piecing scraps together at the end! It's just a giant paperback book cover, really.
